Goodbye 2017 Welcome 2018 - terve vanha vuosi, tervetuloa 2018

Maalausvuosi 2017 oli taas vaihteeksi hajanainen:
Sykliin kuuluivat Wilanoviin valmistautuminen, sieltä paluun inspiraatio, piraattikuume,
kesän jämähdys ja syksyllä puurtamista valmiiden yksiköiden luomiseksi.
Isohkoina välitavotteina onnistui turkkilaisten saattaminen divisioonatasolla pelikuntoisiksi - vaikka siinäkin on hinkkaamisen ja lisäämisen varaa. Lisäksi Blood and Plunderiin syntyi pelikelpoinen osasto kurkunkatkojia.

2017 held pre-Wilanov panic, post-Wilanov inspiration, pirate madness, summertime limbo and autumn of attempting to actually finish stuff. I managed to get Ottomans playable on divisional level and playable group of cutthroats for Blood and Plunder.

Gamewise it has been quiet: some Sword and Spear games with Punic army against Romans, gaming with Pirate game Blood and Plunder one divisional and couple of task force level games of By Fire and Sword seem to constitute last years games.

Works in Progress – or, if honest, works that have been started in the past:

Horde of janissaries, azaps and mixed light ottoman troops – in the dreaded almost finished state. 
Wilanow added bunch of tufecki to this pile of which 8 bases - the amount playable in division is coming along nicely. 
Lots of Ottoman command in the work right now, advancing nicely:

Ottoman and Polish artillery prepped so I can meet Swedish or Muscovite gunlines...

I also prepared Polish cossack regiment, some petyhorchy and pancerny to flesh out possible division.

Reiters – both “eastern” and imperial- mainly untouched since I have enough for my Polish division pääosin jääneet rauhaan - 4 beissiä valmistui Wilanovia varten ei pelillistä välitöntä tarvetta

Cuirassiers – Both reiters and cuirassiers would go for a Pike and Shotte game and there limiting factor would probably be amount of available musketeers and pikemen.

Irish/Scottish regiment of musketeers and pike – nice small project that may wait until projects that are further are gotten away - edennyt - edelleen kesken - lisänä keisarillinen piikkiosasto

Danish and Imperial command have been occasionally touched but not systematically finished.

Unit of landsknecht pike, small unit of Italian pike – begun just for fun, should be pushed a bit forward to bolster the number and raise the quality of pikes available for possible Italian wars game.

28 mm figures for Ronin – various to be worked after inspiration, to complement existing units and to lessen clutter. - ei edistynyt lainkaan

The crusaders in 15 mm – still. So close to finishing that they should be pushed to finish during spring. Even more so since my opponent has finished his Moslems.- ei edistynyt

Gaul foot, gaul cavalry – horde is never larger enough. Finish the light cavalry soonish and try to get the mailed cavalry painted too to give legionaries and their cavalry bad times. 

Iberians and ibericelts – I have enough for Sword and Spear allies – 1-3 units are required for Hail Caesar division and they look pretty nice so crack the whip when inspired. And get some of horsies painted too since Iberian cavalry looks totally different from the Gauls and Numidians. These have not been touched ovat saaneet olla rauhassa

Italian Allies- no real hurry unless inspiration hits. levänneet

Elephants – stomp the imperialist! these have rested as well as Sword and Spear gaming.  levänneet

Mitä seuraavaksi? What now?

Seuraava kohde on ilman muuta Ottomaanien komento-osaston täydentäminen  - etenee tällä hetkellä sen verran hyvin. Sitten mahdollisesti tykistöä ja sekalaisia jalkaväkiosastoja Azabit eri aseilla ja merirosvot ovat aika valmiita. Jos inspiraatio iskee puolalaisia kasakoita olisi jonossa. Varsinaisille uutuushankinnoille ei ole suurta tarvetta, vaikka Wargamer kyllä puskeekin houkuttelevaa uutta figua markkinoille jatkuvasti.

Right now on the table are Ottoman commanders and since they are coming along nicely I'll continue with them. Next maybe finish artillery and mixed infantry units - azabs and corsairs are close to being ready so it would behoove to just finish them. And loads of pancerny and cossacks are on painting line. I don't really have need for new stuff to pain, allthough Wargaemer is constantly pushing out new inspring stuff.

On more boring side I need to finish more terrain that is waiting half finished to spice up  table for different eras.
