And something completely different

Before Wilanov tourney I had pretty good focus on finishing By Fire and Sword stuff. After it, no deadline no focus. Even before it I did have some sideprojects from painting all that horseflesh.

Regulars with eastern-bloc weapons and plastic spetsnats for Black Ops.
Ennen Wilanovia keskittyminen By Fire and Sword projektien valmistumiseen oli aika kova. Nyt iski vastavaikutus ja maalaus kokonaisuudessaan on ollut asika jäissä. Toki ennen Wilanoviakin siinä hevosten ohessa tuli sudittua mm. noi khakiunivormuiset irakilaiset.

Posti toi Black Ops projektiin lisää leluja vähän näytteenomaisesti. Hommasin pari avolavapakua eri valmistajilta ja samalla kolmelta eri valmistajalta noin ryhmän verran figuja: "tuaregeja", arabimiliisiä, afgaaneja ja jokunen siviili.

Couple of vehicles and samples of different ranges for Black ops. Weird tuaregs, afghans and arab militia. Quite different in bulk when handled close. Intersting to see how different they look when painted. No really large units but possibility of mixing different groups to form a heterogenous factions. Afghans by Britannia Miniatures are pretty stocky, Hobby Den provided the tuaregs as well as militia. Tuaregs would tend towards stocky whereas militia are more in line with plastic 1:72 figures.

And my friend went in for Blood and Plunder kickstarter. And needed a opponent so he made a offer that was hard to resist:

And on table waits regiment of sipahis, horde ot tatars, iberians some Polish volunteers. Volunteers seem to lack flocking only so they should get ready pretty quickly. Intyeresting to see where inpiration leads next.

Return from Wilanov

Well the By Fire and Sword event was as fun as always.

For the event I took Swedish lists. After training sessions in Lahti  I was in no mood for taking any unit with spear or lance, so Ottomans were out and Poles got unlikely.

For this reason I took a look on my old Swedes and gave them small facelift:

Invincibles
For invincibles I had some new armored reiters, needed to switch riders on some veteran bases and retouch some of the bases - here pics before.
Detachment
Detachment used mainly same figures - so I had three lists of which I in the event only played the invincibles - it seemed like fun at the time.

Some ready bases. I also finished the janissaries fotr the event.

And just for finishing touch I added some recognition markings to backedges of the bases.
These really helped keeping order in the units during the tourney.

Armoured reiters finished

Finally got these troopers game-ready. When proper weather strikes, they'll get a spray of varnish.

Panssaroidut ratsumiehet valmiina Puolan sotaan. Vähän väriä beissin reunaan ja lakka, jos sää antaa myöden spreiata ulkona.

Gauls from the woods Galleja metsästä

Some ancient gauls got basing in same process as armoured reiters.
Galleja ja metsää nurmetettu. Kisamaalauksen sivutuotoksia.
